Managed Internet Service Details

Enterprise Hosting Internet Service utilizes Four (4) layers of redundancy.  The service is designed from the ground up to provide 100% Internet availability for your Windows Terminal Server application environment. This is achieved through multi-homing, BGP-4 and four layers of redundancy.

    • Layer 1 – Multiple Tier-1 ISPs
    • Layer 2 – Diverse local loop providers connect the Managed Internet Service to each ISP
    • Layer 3 – Fully redundant Cisco Powered Network (a.k.a. Managed Internet mesh)

Performance: Transit Connections

Our Managed Internet Service maintains direct transit connections to multiple Tier 1 backbones. Enterprise Hosting’s ISP partners connect approximately 60-80% of Internet end users directly to their backbones. By connecting the Enterprise Hosting data center and your servers/application directly to these backbones, the service reduces the distance between your end users and your application. In addition, these direct connections reduce the reliance on congested public and private peering points because traffic is put directly on the destination backbone from the data center site.

The effect is increased performance for your customers. However, at times it is still necessary to exchange data with smaller ISPs. Enterprise Hosting’s Tier-1 ISPs have over 300 combined private peering relationships. Private peering ensures increased performance and reduced packet loss over public peering.

Scalability: Bandwidth Utilization

Through the use of multiple ISPs, Enterprise Hosting has bi-directional bandwidth scalability. Based on your need, Enterprise Hosting may choose to scale bandwidth with an existing ISP (vertical scalability) or may choose to add a new ISP to the mix (horizontal scalability).

Enterprise Hosting IP engineers closely monitor the utilization of the data center’s bandwidth capacity to ensure that we always have an acceptable amount of capacity available for customer growth.

Network/Internet Connectivity Design

The network component consists of the local loop circuits and the paid transit connections to Internet Service Providers in our data centers. Enterprise Hosting has selected AT&T, Internap and Verizon to provide transit connectivity to our hosting infrastructure.

Identification, Notification and Escalation

With Standard Application and Infrastructure Management, your application is watched every hour of every day by highly trained, dedicated Operations Technicians in the Enterprise Hosting Network Operations Centers (NOCs). When an alarm is generated, one of our Operations Technicians performs troubleshooting procedures to identify and isolate false alarms and verify a problem exists. If a problem is identified the Hosting technicians notify your designated point of contact within 15 minutes.

SSAE-16 SOC 1 Certified Data Center

Formerly called SAS70 Type II, Enterprise Hosting hosts from an Atlanta-based SSAE-16 SOC 1 (Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16) data center verified through an annual third-party audit. SSAE 16 has replaced the former SAS 70 Type II certification and is the next generation of AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) standards for reporting on controls at service organizations, including data centers, in the United States.  SSAE 16 goes beyond SAS 70 by requiring the auditor to obtain a written assertion from management regarding the design and operating effectiveness of the controls being reviewed.

As with the legacy SAS 70 Certification, SSAE-16 SOC 1 reports will be available as Type 1 or Type 2 reports.   Type 1 reports present the auditors’ opinion regarding the accuracy and completeness of management’s description of the system or service as well as the suitability of the design of controls as of a specific date.  A Type 2 SOC 1 report includes the Type 1 criteria AND audits the operating effectiveness of the controls throughout a declared time period, generally between six months and one year.  Like SAS 70, there is no official SSAE 16 or SOC 1 certification.
